Sebastião Soares is a full professor at UFSC. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sanitary Engineering from UFSC (1985), D.E.A. (1991) and Ph.d. (1994) in Waste Management and Treatment from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon (France). He works at UFSC since 1995, in the Department of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering. He has coordinated the Undergraduate program in Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, headed the Department and coordinated the Graduate program in Environmental Engineering and has been Vice Dean and Dean of the School of Technology. In 2003-2004 he was visiting professor (post-doctorate) at the École Polytechnique de Montréal (Canada). Between 1999 and 2013, he held a research grant from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). He was a research fellow at the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) from 2013 to 2015. He researches in the area of environmental management, with an emphasis on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and solid waste.
